Netherlands Film Festival and 10/10 introduce new music video awards

Making a great music video takes everything. In the Netherlands, there has never been a prize that treats it that way. Together with the Netherlands Film Festival, we're changing that.

On 26 September, the most striking music videos of the past year come to the big screen at Kinepolis Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, with conversations with the directors and artists behind them. The evening closes with two prizes: a new award for emerging talent, and one for best music video.

Tickets for the NFF Music Video Awards are available now via filmfestival.nl. This year’s selection has been announced today; the call for entries reopens next year and participation is free of charge.

A lot of directors now working in film, series and commercials started out in music videos. The programme has long given a platform to filmmakers pushing the boundaries of the form, and with 10/10 joining as a partner and a redesigned format, the focus shifts further towards artistic development and authorship.

Marjolijn Bronkhuyzen, director of the Netherlands Film Festival: “With the NFF Music Video Awards we’re building on a strong foundation and creating a contemporary platform for the filmmakers shaping this medium today and tomorrow. The music video night is one of the most popular parts of the festival, and it shows the strength of Dutch music video culture both as an art form in its own right and as a stepping stone to other work.”

"The ambition we share with the NFF is to grow this into a significant and influential prize, one that rewards creativity, nerve and perseverance."
Deniz Alkaç, founder of 10/10 and curator of the programme
