Tom Clover Directs ‘Deejay Academy’ for DJ X-Coast
Director Tom Clover has created an 11-minute worldwide euro dance music video for Serbian DJ X-Coast. The film follows the man behind the lucrative ‘X-Coast Deejay Academy’ as he travels the globe, calling the shots and performing at sold-out shows.
Blending narrative elements with vibrant musical performances, the project spans a diverse range of locations, including New York, London, Amsterdam, Serbia, and Australia.
Speaking about the creative process, Tom Clover shared:
“This was one of the most liberating projects I have ever worked on—it really made me realize what is actually possible. We did heaps of improv, turning up at locations with the camera and just an idea of what we needed, and then going for it.”

“The production was a bit of a wild ride—loose, unorthodox, and full of unexpected moments. There were no formal call sheets, just live iguanas pushing us forward. It was totally independent; every decision was driven by instinct and creativity. I sent Tom to NYC, and next thing I knew, he and X-Coast were filming on a helicopter. These spontaneous, cinematic moments defined the whole project.”
Tom continues:
“The idea actually came from the artist themselves. X-Coast made an Instagram reel joking about having his own ‘DJ Academy,’ and I immediately knew it could be turned into something much bigger. I cold-emailed his manager about it, and a few months later, we were filming across five different countries.”
The result is a bold and inventive project that pushes the boundaries of the traditional music video format, merging spontaneity with creative storytelling.
